Injected Magnesium: Compared to aluminum, Injected Magnesium is half the weight, but has four times the strength. Magnesium is also the 8th most abundant material on earth and is easy to recycle.
Extruded Aluminum : Extruded Aluminum comes out 100% pure and maintains its shape year in and year out. Union was first to bring this process to snowboarding, and is still the only company offering it.
Carbon Fiber : Ultra lightweight and strong, Union Carbon is “full carbon”. In other words, it’s the 100% real deal — not cosmetic. If you want the best and aren’t afraid to pay for the best, carbon components are for you.
Premium Leather : Water treated, natural-grain leather straps are highly durable and seem to get better and better with use. There’s no substitute for the real thing, and that’s why Union Premium Leather is as good as it gets.
Aluminum Hardware : Anodized Aluminum Hardware will be offered on top-end models. Anodizing process adds 30% strength and shaves off a considerable amount of overall weight.
Grade 8.8 Hardware : Commonly used “mild steel” hardware has a property class 4.6. High-strength steel hardware has a property class 8.8. Considering how much stress a binding goes through, grade 8.8 is the dependable and safe choice.
